The Shuri Foundation is a nonprofit organization, and this Refund Policy governs donations made through our website. As a charitable organization, our refund policy differs from commercial businesses selling products or services.

Nature of Donations

All contributions to The Shuri Foundation are voluntary charitable donations intended to support our mission of community upliftment, conservation, and inclusive opportunities within the safari and hospitality industries across Africa.

  • Donations are not payments for goods or services

  • No goods or services are provided in exchange for donations (except donor recognition benefits, where applicable)

  • Donations are generally considered final once processed

Refund Eligibility

 

When Refunds Are Available

We will provide refunds in the following circumstances:

  1. Processing Errors

    • Duplicate charges due to technical issues

    • Incorrect donation amounts processed due to system error

    • Unauthorized charges to your payment method

  2. Donor Error

    • You made a donation in error (e.g., wrong amount entered)

    • You accidentally made a duplicate donation

    • You selected the wrong donation designation

  3. Special Circumstances

    • Exceptional situations evaluated on a case-by-case basis

    • Material misrepresentation in our fundraising communications

    • Program cancellations (for designated donations to specific programs)

When Refunds Are Not Available

Refunds will generally not be provided for:

  • Change of mind after a donation is intentionally made

  • Disagreement with how The Shuri Foundation uses funds within our mission

  • Donations made more than 60 days ago

  • Anonymous donations (where we cannot verify the donor)

  • Third-party payment processing fees (these are typically non-refundable)

To request a refund, please contact us within 60 days of your donation:

  • Refund requests will be reviewed within 10 business days of receipt

  • You will receive confirmation of our decision via email

  • Approved refunds will be processed within 14 business days of approval

  • Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used

Refund Amount

  • Refunds will typically be for the full donation amount

  • Payment processing fees charged by third-party processors are generally non-refundable

  • Bank or credit card fees from your financial institution are your responsibility

Recurring Donations

 

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel recurring donations at any time:

Cancellation requests will be processed promptly, but please allow up to 2 business days for the cancellation to take effect.

Refunds for Recurring Donations

  • You may request a refund for the most recent recurring donation charge using the standard refund process

  • Refunds are not available for previous recurring donation charges beyond the most recent

  • If you wish to stop future charges, please cancel your recurring donation

Designated Donations

 

Program-Specific Donations

If you made a designated donation to a specific program or project:

  • Funds will be used exclusively for that designated purpose

  • If the designated program is cancelled or cannot be completed, you will be notified

  • You may choose to redirect your donation to another program or request a refund

  • If a program is overfunded, excess funds will be used for related programs unless you request a refund

Restricted Donations

For donations with specific restrictions:

  • We will honor all donor-imposed restrictions

  • If we cannot comply with the restriction, we will contact you to discuss alternatives or arrange a refund

Memorial and Tribute Donations

Donations made in memory or honor of someone are subject to our standard refund policy, with special consideration given to:

  • The sensitivity of the situation

  • Whether acknowledgment cards have been sent

  • The timeframe of the donation

Event-Related Contributions

For donations associated with events, galas, or fundraising activities:

  • Requests made more than 30 days before an event will generally be honored

  • Requests made less than 30 days before an event will be evaluated based on:

    • Our ability to resell tickets or sponsorships

    • Costs already incurred on your behalf

    • Event logistics and planning

Event Cancellations

If The Shuri Foundation cancels an event:

  • Full refunds will be offered

  • Option to convert payment to a tax-deductible donation

  • Notification will be sent to all registered participants

Tax Receipts and Refunds

  • If you received a tax receipt for your donation, a refund may affect your tax deduction

  • Fraudulent chargeback claims may result in your inability to donate in the future

  • We reserve the right to pursue appropriate legal remedies for improper chargebacks

  • Processor fees are typically non-refundable

  • Refund timing may depend on the processor and your financial institution

  • Some international transaction fees may not be refundable

Currency Conversions

For international donations:

  • Refund amounts may differ slightly due to exchange rate changes

  • Currency conversion fees charged by your bank are non-refundable
