ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT.

This statement was last updated on February 3, 2026

Our Commitment to Accessibility

We at The Shuri Foundation are committed to making our website accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. We believe that everyone should have equal access to information about our mission, programs, and opportunities to support community upliftment and conservation across Africa.

What Web Accessibility Is

An accessible website allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved through the capabilities of the system on which the site operates and through assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, and screen magnification software.

Accessibility Standards

We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG 2.1 guidelines at Level AA. This site's contents have been adapted to work with assistive technologies, including screen readers and keyboard navigation.

Accessibility Features on This Site

As part of our commitment to accessibility, we have implemented the following measures:

Technical Adaptations

  • Used the Wix Accessibility Wizard to identify and address potential accessibility issues

  • Set the language of the site to ensure proper screen reader functionality

  • Established clear content hierarchy and reading order on all pages

  • Defined clear heading structures (H1, H2, H3, etc.) on all pages for easy navigation

Visual Accessibility

  • Added descriptive alternative text to all meaningful images

  • Implemented color combinations that meet WCAG AA contrast requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)

  • Ensured text remains readable when resized up to 200%

  • Avoided relying solely on color to convey information

Navigation and Interaction

  • Ensured all functionality is available via keyboard navigation

  • Provided visible focus indicators for keyboard users

  • Created consistent navigation throughout the site

  • Reduced unnecessary motion and provided controls for animated content

  • Included skip navigation links to main content areas

Media Accessibility

  • Ensured all videos include captions or transcripts where applicable

  • Provided text alternatives for audio content

  • Made all downloadable files accessible or provided accessible alternatives

Forms and Interactive Elements

  • Labeled all form fields clearly and descriptively

  • Provided error identification and suggestions for correction

  • Ensured forms can be completed using keyboard only

  • Grouped related form elements logically

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some limitations may exist:
